Finished Moving. Even found a home for this bad boy
I share the same birth date as Chief Red Cloud. That was one of my discoveries when I was into Native American Art. 10+ years ago my son was working at a ranch which had in addition to everything else, a heard of Buffalo. When they died or were slaughtered for their meat the bones were saved. My son reserved this skull for me. I did some research on Native American Art and culture and proceeded to dress out the skull as you see here. He hung in our home in Forsyth Missouri.
Problem is, how do you add a dash of Native American to a mix of Asian/Jewish/Italian decor? Easy. Find a wall out of the way and hang him up. He's around the corner as you enter the bathroom. I trust it won't scare someone in advance of their using the facilities.
The left side of the skull represents the earth. Braided Sweet Grass, quail feathers (a bird that nests on the ground), bones, the color red for those who died during the "Trail of Tears". The right side represents the sky with simple game bird feathers. Included of course beads which represent one set of Native American Colors that identify the 4 directions: White = North, Red = South, Yellow = East Black = West. Different tribes used these colors differently or replaced colors. The horn casings are real, and the "fur" is Buffalo hair.
I learned a lot while studying to dress out this skull and I could not simply leave him in storage.

Partly finished
Deepest appreciation to my brother George and Sis-In-Law Patty for helping me turn this apartment into something I'm quite proud and very comfortable with.
I mentioned to them I wanted an "Asian Theme" and that is what they provided.

The adjustment of Lucy

Lucy didn't adjust well the 1st day. She followed me everywhere and there was not that far to walk in the apartment. When I left the room she started whining quite loudly. I was fearful that the neighbors would register a complain. I called the Vet to see if there was sme anti-anxeity medication I could give her to help her adjust. He prescribed Acepromazine 10mg cut into 4rths. I was to administer 1/4 of a tablet. I tested this on Friday. It didn't work. Vet said give her another, but no more. In 30 min she was calm. Today she had no meds. I could tell she was still a bit groggy, but she still follow me everywhere. Just not as quickly
Just before taking this photo I said "Medicine". She gave me a look of terror afterwhich she rolled into her sleeping postion with one eye open staring at me (can you see?).

Moving in day
Recommend having a brother.
This is mine, George. I could not have done all this without him and his wife Patty. George was so kind, he even put together my new library shelves.
Lucy is not doing too well. She whines loud, really loud if I leave her alone. Fortunately I dont' have to return to work until Tuesday next week. Hopefully that will give her enough time to settle in. Another option is getting her a companion sooner than I planned. I'm not really looking forward to taking care of 2 dogs in a small apartment, but Lucy can't keep whining.
I have a great view of the pool and part of downtown KC. More pics after I get out of "Box Hell".
